Health Insurance and Finances Information
Private Health Insurance
We accept most major private health insurance funding and provide full costs disclosures before initiating any treatment or therapies. Our knowledgable staff can assist you with the health insurance claims process but it is always helpful to contact your provider in advance to ensure that your insurance covers the orthopaedic procedure.
In most cases, you may be expected to pay a gap fee but this is dependent on the cover of your private health insurance.
Associate Professor Roderick Kuo works only in the private health system and unfortunately does not maintain a public system list. However, some conditions may be treated with non-surgical methods such as physiotherapy that can be initiated after a consultation and review of your circumstances.
Self-funded Treatment
Many patients are opting to self-fund their own surgical treatments. This is becoming more common especially since a majority of orthopaedic procedures are deemed as elective surgeries by the public health system. This can mean a long wait under a public lists that can be as long as 12-24 months whereas a private self-funded option will mean that you can be treated immediately and choose your surgeon.
We offer competitive treatment fees and full disclosure of costs to patients who wish to self-fund their treatment. Our staff will happily provide you with the costs and fees information prior to undertaking any procedure.
Prior to your appointment, please obtain a referral from your General Practitioner. This will allow you to claim a Medicare rebate on the consultation fees.
Treatment Costs Information
Surgical costs are always dependent on each individual patient. Treatments are bespoke and tailored to the individual’s needs.
In most cases, there will be three main costs involved. The Surgeon’s Fee, Anaesthetics Costs, Hospital Costs. Each component is billed separately but these costs will be fully disclosed to you prior to the surgery/procedure.
Your insurance may help cover many of the costs involve but it is essential to speak with them first. There may be out of pocket costs in addition to PHI claims amounts.
Associate Professor Roderick Kuo operates at two private hospitals in Sydney, Norwest Private Hospital and the Sydney Adventist Hospital. PHI often have contracts or arrangements with individual facilities and some may provide more coverage at certain hospitals which can reduce Hospital Costs.
If you have any questions or queries about costs, please speak with our team on 02 9806 3333. We are happy to provide in-depth information to answer your questions.
